Simulation of uncharged particles in electro-osmotic flow inside a microchannel. The particles are dragged along with the developing electro-osmotic flow resulting from an applied electric field in axial direction.
Simulated with waLBerla by means of the lattice Boltzmann method with external forcing. The body force acting on the fluid results from the charged ions in the fluid and the electrostatic force due to the applied field. The electrical double layer modeled by the Poisson-Boltzmann equation is assumed to be full developed at the beginning of the simulation and is unaltered by the presence of the uncharged particles
